  • Jacob Hatch, MS, M.Div

    Licensed Mental Health Counselor

    Jacob Hatch is a member of the American Counseling Association and American Association of Pastoral Counselors. He is certified for the Prepare/Enrich premarital and marriage enrichment counseling program and is licensed by the State of Florida as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (Lic. #MH15384).


    Jacob received his Bachelor’s in Social Work from Ashland University, a Master’s in Divinity from St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Florida. Jacob served as a youth director for nearly ten years before turning his focus towards mental health counseling.   


    Jacob approaches therapy from a strengths-based, wellness approach that focuses on using what works for individuals, couples and families. His approach to therapy is one which uses the family or individual’s faith as an asset when challenged with unforeseen circumstances. He has been trained in DBT, Infant Mental Health which focuses on bonding and attachment between young children and their parents, as well as Trauma-Focused CBT.

  • Kristin Lothman

    Licensed Clinical Social Worker

    Kristin A. Lothman, MSW, LCSW, OSW-C, 200RYT has been serving the Jacksonville community as a clinical social worker since 2010. Kristin received her Bachelor’s in Arts from Davidson College in 2004, her Master’s in Social Work from Florida State University in 2010, and became licensed in 2012 (Lic. #: SW11033). At that time, Kristin also became a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher, with the intention to deepen her embodied spiritual practice and to offer her integrated knowledge with others. Kristin is a member of the Association of Oncology Social Work & earned a specialty certification in oncology social work (OSW-C) in 2016.  Kristin has extensive knowledge & expertise on the psychosocial impact of a cancer diagnosis & treatment, and she values integrative, evidenced-based approaches that support holistic health & healing. She also has worked with individuals, children & families facing chronic and/or terminal illness. Kristin teaches social work at the university-level, as her commitment to the growing responsible clinical social workers is one of her many passions. She is a state qualified supervisor and is also available to work with registered clinical social work interns pursing licensure.

     

    Kristin is an avid yoga & mindfulness practitioner: she spends her free time travelling to, learning from, and connecting with soulful beings who desire a deeper relationship with life itself.  Kristin has many spiritual teachers & meaningful relationships that support her in her own ongoing quest for wholeness & vitality. And, she loves to help others access this same vitality & purpose in their own minds & bodies. Her approach to individual therapy is client-centered and collaborative. She believes in the transformative power of authentic human connection, and so works diligently to nurture safe, therapeutic relationships. This gives her clients greater freedom to tune in to their own hearts, if they so choose. Areas where she offers support: spiritual growth, healthy living, stress reduction, coping with illness, depression, anxiety, grief & loss

  • Rev. Louis R. Lothman, Th.D.

    Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

    Rev. Louis R. Lothman, Th.D., has served as Director of Pastoral Counseling Services from 1996 till 2016. Lou is licensed by the State of Florida as a Marriage and Family Therapist ( Lic. # MT 1294), is a Fellow of the American Association of Pastoral Counselors (AAPC), and is a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marital and Family Therapy (AAMFT). He is a Presbyterian minister, serving since ordination in 1977 in the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. Lou received his B.A. from Duke University, Cum Laude, in 1972. He received his M. Div. degree in 1977 from Columbia Theological Seminary in Atlanta and served in parishes and calls in Panama City Florida, and Atlanta from 1977 to 1985. In 1986, then accepted a call to move to Jacksonville and join Pastoral Counseling Services in the specialized ministry role of pastoral counselor and psychotherapist. 


    Since then he has provided and continues to provide spiritually sensitive counseling services to individuals, couples, and families. In 1989, he completed his Th.D. in Pastoral Counseling at Columbia Theological Seminary, with his dissertation in the area of family systems theory, mourning and loss, and healthy personal and family functioning. Dr. Lothman' s areas of specialization include depression and anxiety, couples and family counseling, parenting and relational issues, spiritual growth, including help in resolving crises in meaning, grief, and loss, and enhancing self-esteem and healthy living.


    Dr. Lothman has been married to his wife, Judy, since 1976 and has two grown children. He enjoys cycling, traveling, reading and writing.

  • Cliff Thomas

    Executive Director

    Having served on the board of directors for more than four years, Cliff Thomas has joined Pastoral Counseling Services as the new Executive Director. Cliff has served as the Communications Director at Riverside Presbyterian Church using both his marketing and graphic design skills to help create a uniform approach to the branding of Riverside Presbyterian Church.


    Cliff has an extensive background in marketing, from owning his own business to working in real estate. As a marketing consultant and sales representative, Cliff analyzed marketing strategies of small to medium size companies and provided solutions to enhance their relationship with their current customers and gain new ones. He has served as a liaison for physicians by working with local businesses to increase the patient population in several industries including chiropractic care, orthodontics, and accidental injury care.


    As a husband, father and individual he is committed to helping others. As a student in college, he served as a Minister of Youth and became a licensed minister. Through his experience of working with youth and families, he clearly understands how important it is for people to have qualified professional to help individuals and families go through those times in life that seem to be overwhelming. Having gone through a painful divorce himself, he too has gained from the guidance and life skills he received from a caring therapist that took the time to listen.
